———  DOES THIS FIT?

What digestive trouble can feel like

Digestive trouble rarely arrives alone. These are the things people most often bring to a first session. None of them needs a diagnosis before you can get guidance on eating.

———  AROUND YOUR ROUTINE

01

Constipation, loose stools, or a swing between the two

03

Planning outings around the nearest bathroom

02

Cutting out one food after another and still not feeling settled

04

A diagnosis such as IBS and no clear idea what to eat next

After you eat

✓  A swollen, tight belly by the evening

✓  Gas or cramping that seems to come without warning

✓  Heartburn or an uneasy stomach with certain meals

Symptoms that are new, severe or getting worse need a doctor first.

———  YOUR FIRST SESSION

What happens in your assessment

One session, one hour, $350. You see the fee in the booking calendar before you pay.

ONE HOUR

Nutrition Assessment

$350

60 minutes, Zoom or Kaneohe

✓  Your digestive history, diagnoses and any tests you have had

✓  A typical day of meals, drinks and snacks, and where symptoms fall

✓  Medications and supplements, so nothing is added blindly

✓  A written starting plan with a few clear priorities

Lab work or supplements, if you choose them, are paid for separately.

———  THE PROCESS

Three steps from booking to plan

01

Choose a slot

Select an appointment in the booking calendar and pay the $350 fee.

02

Zoom or Kaneohe

Held by video link, or in person at the Kaneohe practice, by appointment.

03

Meet and plan

Use the hour to go through your symptoms and meals, and leave with a first set of changes.

———  MEDICAL FIRST

When to see your doctor first

Medical review comes first if you have

•  Blood in your stool, or black stools

•  Weight loss you cannot explain

•  Pain that wakes you, or trouble swallowing

•  A sudden change in bowel habits, especially later in life

Nutrition counseling can add

✓  A food plan built around your diagnosis and treatment

✓  Help with eating after a doctor has ruled out other causes

✓  A short summary you can share with your doctor

———  WAYS WE CAN WORK

How a gut health nutritionist can help

Food and symptom diary

A short record of what you eat, when symptoms appear and how you slept, to look for patterns together.

Trigger testing, step by step

If a food looks suspicious, you test it in an orderly way rather than dropping half your diet at once.

Fiber and variety

Adjusting types and amounts of fiber, and widening the plants you eat, at a pace your gut tolerates.

Meal rhythm and hydration

How the size and spacing of meals, fluids and eating speed sit with your symptoms.

Stress, sleep and the gut

Looking at the links between a tense day, a short night and a restless stomach, and what small habits help.

Questions about gut health nutrition

Does a nutritionist help with gut health?

A nutritionist can look at how your meals, fluids, fiber and daily habits line up with your digestive symptoms and suggest changes to try. She does not diagnose or replace your doctor, and she asks about any tests or diagnoses you already have.

Can nutrition help with IBS?

Many people with IBS find that what and how they eat affects their symptoms, and a personal plan can make eating less stressful. IBS is a long-term condition managed with your doctor, so Mare’ka does not promise it will go away.

Do you work with SIBO?

A doctor has to confirm SIBO and decide on treatment. If you have that diagnosis, a session can focus on eating around your symptoms and keeping your meals balanced while you follow your doctor’s plan.

Does bloating mean something is wrong with my gut?

Not always. Bloating is common and has many causes, from how fast you eat to what is on the plate. If it is persistent, painful or paired with weight loss or blood in the stool, see your doctor first.

How much is a session, and can I join online?

A 60-minute assessment is $350. Sessions are held by video link, or in person at the Kaneohe practice, by appointment. Lab work or supplements, if you choose them, are paid for separately.

What credential does Mare’ka hold?

She holds the BCNP credential, short for Board Certified Nutrition Practitioner.
