——— QUESTIONS
Oncology nutrition questions
What does an oncology nutritionist do?
An oncology nutritionist helps people with cancer eat well before, during and after treatment: easing side effects that affect eating, keeping up protein and energy, and answering food questions. Treatment decisions stay with your oncology team.
What should I eat during chemotherapy?
It depends on your treatment and side effects. Common guidance is to eat small amounts often, include protein at each meal and drink enough fluids. If your oncology team gives you specific instructions, those come first.
Can I take supplements during cancer treatment?
Only with your oncology team’s agreement, because some supplements can interact with treatment. Mare’ka reviews what you take and lists questions to raise with your oncologist.
Can diet cure cancer?
No. Food cannot cure cancer or replace treatment. Good nutrition can help you cope with treatment and rebuild strength, and that is what these sessions focus on.
Why do I need a suitability check?
Cancer care varies widely. Some situations, such as tube feeding or nutrition given in hospital, need a hospital team. The check confirms that an outpatient nutrition session is the right fit before you pay.
Can I have sessions online during treatment?
Yes. Zoom lets you join from home on days when travel is hard, subject to location eligibility.
How much does it cost?
$350 for the one-hour assessment, paid once your suitability reply says it is a fit. Supplements and tests are extra.
